I was extremely proud and humbled to receive the following letter in the mail last week:
As you likely know by now, Nightline recently held a contest we called the People’s Platelist and invited audiences from across the county to nominate the chefs they thought were among the best in the nation. You were among the chef’s nominated by members of your own audience, who wrote elaborate essays explaining the reasons you believed you fit into that category. Although you weren’t chosen as a finalist, your authentic and original cuisine has clearly made an incredible impact on your community. For that reason and your commitment to your craft, we’d like to offer you this token of our congratulations and appreciation.
Signed,
Cynthia McFadden

Thank you to whichever of my customers submitted an entry on my behalf! It’s reassuring to know that I’ve made an impact in this community and motivates me to continue providing excellent food for all of you!

April 18, 2010:
I changed duty stations from Goodfellow AFB to Tyndall AFB last July and the thing I miss most about San Angelo is definitely Peasant Village.
I can’t find anything nearly as great as your cheesecake and jalepeno stuffed scallops here in Florida!
You were always very accommodating to special requests. I brought my mother with severe food allergies and Jason cooked her a wonderful meal customized to her needs, giving her a chance to actual eat out with the family. We’ll always be thankful.
I haven’t found a restaurant here even close in quality of food or customer service.
Keep doing what you do! I tell any friends that are traveling through west Texas that they need to stop by and have a meal.
** Thanks for the kind words John and good luck in Florida!
Trip Advisor has a few great reviews of the restaurant. We appreciate your comments and encourage others to write your own reviews! We work hard to give you a great dining experience and hope you were completely satisfied! If not, contact the chef!

My wife and I ventured into the Peasant Village not knowing what to expect. I had tried Chef Jason’s sandwiches, which he makes during lunch and sells from a small building behind the restaurant, so I knew his food tasted excellent (and those were just the sandwiches).
The interior of the restaurant is very cozy with painted murals, hardwood floors, three separate dining areas, and original fireplace. Because the building is a converted single family home, it presents a great atmosphere to enjoy your dinner companion’s company.
The food is gourmet in taste and presentation. The wine list is long and priced reasonably. The desserts are fresh, but if you still have room to eat it after having an entree, you have skills that I don’t have! One of the best things to note, the children’s menu is actually priced perfectly! I hate when restaurants charge $6 to serve mac and cheese or a grilled cheese sandwich. Here they are $3 on average.
I recommend this restaurant to families, couples on a date, a gift for your parent’s anniversary, or just to enjoy a great meal for lunch or dinner!
